In a previous post, I mentioned that I am writing on this blog a series titled Building a Library.  Last post was looking at the Top 5 Study Tools Every Christian Should Have.  For this post, I want to look at the Top 5 Classic Books That Every Christian Should Read.  I should define classic;  this means any book written from an author before the 19th Century (that means C.H. Spurgeon wouldn’t be included in this list…that will be later!).  So here they are (with associated links)…

Religious Affections, by Jonathan Edwards

Pilgrim’s Progress, by John Bunyan

Confessions, by Augustine

Bondage of the Will, by Martin Luther

Institutes of the Christian Religion, by John Calvin

Next, I will look at the top 5 modern classic books that every Christian should read.  And please offer any suggestions you have for additional books in the comments section.  It was kind of hard to narrow it down to just five (one that came close was some works by John Wesley, John Owen or some Puritan writers)!
